Moving forward in your identity requires shedding the false identity rooted in Adam and the earthly man—an identity entangled in fear, shame, worldly passions, and superficial external concepts. Ephesians 4:22 instructs us to “take off the old man with his deceitful lusts.” In Greek, one of the words derived from “deceitful lusts” is delusion, meaning the belief in something false as though it were true.

Many unknowingly forfeit their destiny and the fulfilment of their purpose because they remain constrained by an old identity that limits and disqualifies them daily. How can one expect to fulfil their destiny while living from their own flaws and faults? It is only a matter of time before such an identity proves insufficient.

One of the greatest wisdom keys to fulfilling your destiny is to remove anything tied to your old identity. This false identity defers hope and makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12) because it is incompatible with the identity of Christ (Romans 8:29).

When you address the strongholds in your mind and heart and begin to live from His mind and His heart, your motivation and desires will align with His will, igniting a renewed enthusiasm within you. The goal is to become a prisoner of hope, not a prisoner of hopelessness.

By stripping away the old concepts of who you think you are daily, you take another step toward God’s intended outcome for your life. The key to fulfilling your destiny lies in moving forward one step at a time, one day at a time, while intentionally confronting your thoughts and emotions as they arise.

It’s about appreciating the little things and recognizing small changes along the way, so you know in your heart that you are making progress. Most people don’t attribute progress to mental health, but it does, and more to the point.
