Some have said that fear stands for “False Evidence Appearing Real.” I somewhat believe this, but not entirely. I would say past fear presents false evidence in the present if there is no evidence for feeling it. If we make fear greater than the truth within us, there is no way we will be set free from it.

People get stuck in a fear loop of irrationality, whereby they over-feel, and their thoughts are flooded. In other words, emotions begin to dictate how they process reality. If we don’t get to the foundation of what we feel and why we feel it, fear gains a right to occupy our lives illegally on a spiritual level.

I say “illegally” because God has not given us that spirit or the overwhelming emotions that come with it. If they did not come from Him, they must be confronted methodically. How else will we ever be delivered from them? Unless we address phobic thinking and our illogical processing, fear will always feel unbeatable if we don’t.

The Bible clarifies in Psalm 56:3: “When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.” It does not say we will never be afraid; instead, it tells us we have a choice. We can choose to trust, no matter how fearful we are. We hand over our will to the will of Another.

Even Jesus did this in Gethsemane, saying, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” This is an active decision in the face of fear—to surrender to Someone greater for protection.

You are safe in His everlasting arms. Never forget that.
